SUMMARY
The Speech Pathologist Assistant provides coordinated speech
therapy assistance with a Bachelor's Degree in Speech Therapy to
patients of all age groups under the supervision of a Licensed
Speech Language Pathologist.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to
satisfactorily perform each essential function listed below.
Administers the speech therapy treatment plan as developed by the
Speech Language Pathologist.
Applies concepts of infection control and standard precautions in
performing patient care activities.
Accepts clinical assignments that are consistent with the education
and competence to care for the patients.
Uses effective interpersonal relations and communication skills
Meets mandatory continuing education requirements
Promotes compliance with all fiscal intermediary and/or other third
party payers, through education, coaching and other assistance as
necessary
Demonstrates commitment, professional growth and competency
Performs other related duties and activities as required.
Minimum Knowledge and Skills required by the Job
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge,
skill, and/or abilities required to perform the job.
Education and Experience:
Graduate of an accredited school of speech therapy assistant with a
Bachelors Degree
One year experience as a Speech Therapy Assistant in an acute care
or rehabilitation setting.
Pediatric and Home Health experience preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
Current Texas State License to practice speech therapy
Other Skills and Abilities:
Therapy skills as set forth in the Therapy Practice Act and other
regulatory agencies. Good interpersonal skills.
Other Requirements:
Travel as needed
Physical Requirements:
Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or
up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of
force constantly to move objects.
