leading veterinary organization is seeking a skilled and
experienced veterinarian to join the team as a Regional Medical
Director. This full-time salaried position involves weekly travel
across a designated region, overseeing 20-35 veterinary practices
to ensure top-tier medical care and excellent client service. The
position requires a hands-on approach in mentoring, leadership, and
operational management, and the ideal candidate will be based in
the Raleigh/Durham, NC area. However, candidates in other regions
will also be considered.As a Regional Medical Director, the
individual will work closely with regional teams, ensuring that
each hospital adheres to company policies and standards while
delivering exceptional care. This role offers the opportunity to
drive change, collaborate with leadership, and lead a team of
dedicated professionals across multiple locations.Key
Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Mentorship: Provide hands-on support and guidance
to DVMs, collaborating on complex cases and offering mentorship to
improve clinical skills and patient care.
- Hospital Performance Management: Oversee the performance of
20-35 hospitals by analyzing key metrics such as revenue, client
satisfaction, and staff performance. Collaborate with practice
managers and regional directors to address operational
challenges.
- Clinical Support: Fill critical shifts as necessary to ensure
that hospitals remain fully staffed and provide quality care to
patients. Monitor and assess case outcomes, providing feedback to
improve clinical practices.
- Operational Excellence: Ensure operational efficiency across
the region by tracking compliance with medical protocols, managing
the flow of appointments, and ensuring the effective use of
resources.
- Collaborative Leadership: Work closely with the regional
leadership team to identify opportunities for improvement and
implement strategies to enhance the performance of each
hospital.
- Travel & Clinical Practice: This role requires a significant
amount of travel, with the Regional Medical Director expected to
work at least 8 days per month in a clinical setting.Skills &
Qualifications:
- Veterinary Degree: A DVM/VMD from an AVMA-accredited
institution (or successful completion of the ECFVG or PAVE
program).
- Licensing: Active veterinary license in the state(s) in which
the candidate will operate, or the ability to obtain
licensure.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of clinical practice
experience, with prior leadership or mentorship experience
preferred.
- Leadership & Communication: Strong leadership and communication
skills, with the ability to guide diverse teams and foster a
positive and collaborative work environment.
- Problem-Solving & Decision-Making: Ability to analyze complex
data and make informed decisions to improve hospital performance
and client outcomes.
- Adaptability: A high level of resilience and adaptability to
work effectively across different environments and practice
teams.
- Travel-Ready: Willingness and ability to travel regularly and
manage time effectively across clinical and corporate
