with us.The American Heart Association is seeking a Finance and
Operations Director, Business Technology.The Finance and Operations
Director, Business Technology is responsible for developing and
ensuring effective business operations management for Office of
Business Technology including departmental budgeting and technical
policy management. Responsible for oversight of operational support
functions in collaboration with Finance and Procurement, and other
departments as needed. Responsible for consulting, advising and
providing approaches as a trusted colleague to BT staff.
Responsible for leading and ensuring processes and deliverables of
the operations team meets the needs of Business Technology. Also,
responsible for collaborating with American Heart Association BT
leadership on financial management related to American Heart
Association technical project initiatives.The Association offers

locally.ResponsibilitiesTechnology Budget Management:
- Facilitates and handles the Business Technology budgets in
coordination with Business Technology Leadership Team with the
appropriate guidance from the Finance Team.
- Prepares annual budget instructions and templates, facilitates
budget training and communication, and collaborates with Financial
Reporting team on revisions to ensure accuracy.
- Provides budget management support to BT leadership and BT
managers for annual salary, operational and capital budgets; works
with BT leadership and American Heart Association Finance to guide
them through the annual budget approval processes.
- Develops and implements new processes to provide consistent
monthly departmental budget reporting.Financial Modeling and
Analysis of Technology Spend:
- Performs financial modeling and analysis for Technology budgets
and projected spend to validate effective and efficient use of
technology budget.
- Coordinates and facilitates a monthly BT operational/capital
budget review and forecasts to ensure visibility into annual budget
state.
- Analyze Business Technology financial activities on a monthly
basis; prepares qualitative analysis of technology spend against
budget for review by the EVP Technology and Business Technology
Leadership Team with recommendation to reflect effective and
efficient use of available budget.
- Assists in management of the Technology Project Fund project
list and quarterly review/approval processes with American Heart
Association C-level executive management.Technology Business
Operations:
- Maintains awareness of contract renewals and other deadlines
for standard vendor-required documents, such as Certificate of
Insurance and assists BT managers as needed with document
handling.
- Assists BT budget owners in researching budget, payments and/or
other related issues or questions and works with appropriate
American Heart Association finance or procurement staff to clarify
or correct if needed.
- Liaises with Procurement as necessary to ensure efficient
contract processing and completion.
- Leads the Technology Operations Support team to ensure
responsibilities are timely and accurately performed to include
contract facilitation, purchase order generation, invoice payment
and other operational efforts.
- Handles the tracking and reporting for: Business Technology
Assets (in conjunction with Finance requirements), Business
Technology Service Level Agreements, and Business Technology
contractors.Technology Process Management:
- Provides regular updates to the American Heart Association BT
Policy Library (Policies, Procedures, Processes and Support &
Operations documents) working in coordination with policy
owners.
- Facilitates identification of end of life or newly needed
policies.
- Partners with Audit as needed to facilitate proper policy
coverage.
- Maintains BT Service Catalog for American Heart Association
staff in partnership with BT Services teams.
- Develops continuous process improvement strategies to achieve
efficiencies and/or cost savings, and performs other duties as
required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope and
responsibility of the job level.Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree (Master's degree preferred) or equivalent
experience
- 5 years minimum of relevant experience (7 years preferred)
- Experience in the principles and practices of accounting,
financial reporting, analysis and budgeting and general business
administration.
- Experience with principles and practices of planning,
budgeting, projecting, month-end close and variance analysis.
- Experienced in interpreting accounting rules and applying the
rules to American Heart Association's business practices and
documenting results accordingly
- Experience with continuous process improvement.
- Experience with vendor negotiations and management.
- Effective time management and organization skills.
- Advanced MS Excel Experience to include Pivot Tables.
- Skilled in use of automated accounting packages.
- Ability to analyze financial data and interpret into narrative
form.
- Excellent in oral and written communications. Ability to
communicate with all levels of American Heart Association staff.
Ability to communicate to technology and non-technology
staff.Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting operations for Information Technology
department.
- Experience with developing and managing process (and process
change) documentation.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Excellent in working against deadlines to provide end
product.Compensation & BenefitsExpected pay range will be $140,000
- $155,000. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic
differentials to the pay range may apply. The American Heart
Association reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted
